Uzbekistan’s 35th Independence reception highlighted Singapore-Uzbekistan ties, with opportunities in trade, investment, education and cultural exchange.
The 35th Independence Anniversary of the Republic of Uzbekistan was celebrated at The Fullerton Hotel in Singapore, bringing diplomatic representatives and guests together to commemorate the occasion and highlight bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Singapore. Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Singapore, His Excellency Alisher Kayumov, and Guest of Honour Mr Murali Pillai, Senior Minister of State, spoke about the growing friendship between the two countries and opportunities to expand cooperation.

In his remarks, Ambassador Kayumov highlighted the development of Singapore-Uzbekistan relations and the potential to deepen engagement in trade, investment, education and cultural exchanges. Mr Murali Pillai echoed these sentiments and encouraged Singaporeans to visit Uzbekistan to experience its historical sites, architecture, cultural heritage and hospitality.
Singapore and Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations in 1997. Since then, their partnership has developed through economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, providing a foundation for further engagement in areas of mutual interest.

Located along the historic Silk Road, Uzbekistan is known for its architectural heritage and historic cities, including Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. These destinations offer visitors insights into centuries of civilisation and the region’s cultural and commercial history.
The gathering highlighted the role of diplomatic occasions in facilitating personal connections and cultural understanding alongside formal economic and political engagement. Such interactions provide opportunities for representatives to exchange experiences, build relationships and explore areas of potential cooperation.
