Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong met Honorary Consuls-General and Honorary Consuls who had gathered in Singapore from around the world to discuss global developments and their implications for the country. PM Wong said the discussion covered changes in the international environment and highlighted the role of honorary consular representatives in maintaining international relationships.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the Prime Minister to engage with the honorary consular representatives on developments affecting Singapore and the wider international community.
Mr Wong described the exchange as “candid and wide-ranging”, reflecting discussions on the changes taking place internationally and what they meant for Singapore. His remarks highlighted the importance of understanding developments in an increasingly fragmented global environment and considering their implications for the country.
The Prime Minister also addressed the role of Honorary Consuls-General and Honorary Consuls in facilitating international engagement. He noted that their responsibilities in building bridges, fostering mutual understanding and maintaining relationships had become increasingly important amid growing global fragmentation.
“In an increasingly fragmented world, their role in building bridges, fostering mutual understanding and strengthening relationships is more important than ever,” PM Wong said.
He also expressed appreciation for the contributions of honorary consular representatives to Singapore’s international engagement, particularly their efforts to establish connections, facilitate opportunities and maintain relationships with partners around the world.
“Grateful for their contributions in helping Singapore forge friendships, open doors and strengthen our connections around the world,” he said.
