Thai officials discussed tourism promotion and opportunities to expand the international MICE market.
Mrs. Chonlatee Chanrachakul, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore, attended the opening ceremony of the Thailand Pavilion at ITB Asia 2026 on 21 October 2026 in Singapore. Representing the Embassy, she joined Thai tourism and provincial officials at the international travel trade show to discuss opportunities to promote Thailand’s tourism industry, particularly in the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Kittipong Praphatthong, Deputy Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and Mr. Wittaya Khunpluem, President of the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization. Their participation highlighted the involvement of Thailand’s tourism authorities and provincial administration in promoting the country’s tourism offerings to the international travel trade.

During the occasion, Mrs. Chonlatee discussed opportunities to advance the promotion of Thailand as a tourism destination, with particular attention to expanding its presence in the international MICE market. The discussions focused on the potential of this sector to support Thailand’s tourism industry and attract visitors with strong purchasing power.
MICE tourism encompasses business events, including meetings, incentive travel, conventions and exhibitions. The sector represents a target market for Thailand as it seeks to enhance its competitiveness in the international tourism industry. Its focus on business-related travel provides opportunities to reach visitors whose travel activities are associated with professional gatherings, corporate programmes and industry events.
ITB Asia 2026 provided the setting for the Thailand Pavilion opening and the exchange on tourism promotion. As an international travel trade show held in Singapore, the event offered a platform for tourism representatives to present their destinations and engage with the travel industry.

The Royal Thai Embassy’s participation reflected its involvement in promoting Thailand’s tourism interests in Singapore. Through the discussions at the pavilion opening, the Embassy representative and Thai officials addressed opportunities to develop the MICE market as part of Thailand’s wider tourism promotion efforts.
The engagement highlighted Thailand’s focus on the international MICE sector as a target segment for tourism development, with the aim of enhancing the country’s position in an increasingly competitive global tourism market.
