IN CONTINUATION of the #ARTTrek15 initiative, the Philippine Embassy in Singapore proudly inaugurated its 6th art exhibition and 4th Embassy-hosted exhibit on October 27, 2023. Titled “Harmony Across Horizons: A Cultural Tapestry of Traditions,” this extraordinary showcase brought together the brilliance of nine gifted artists from both the Philippines and Singapore. Curated by Olal’Art, this collaborative effort featured captivating creations by Rene Robles, Paco Gorospe, Oscar Ocampo, Khristina Manansala, John Paul Toquero Choa, Boo Sze-Yang, Teng Jee-Hum Justin Lee, and Angela Lee. Notably, select pieces were graciously loaned from esteemed art collectors in Singapore.
Running until Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the Philippine Embassy (excluding weekends), this exhibition extended an invitation to visitors for a profound journey through the intertwined cultural narratives of the Philippines and Singapore. It paid tribute to the enduring influence of legends on contemporary art, uniting the diverse artistic heritage of these nations while celebrating the creativity of both established and emerging artists.
During the program, Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig emphasized the profound impact of culture and tradition on art, providing fresh perspectives on how individuals perceive the world. He affirmed that art possesses the unique ability to transcend boundaries, fostering connections and harmony amidst diversity.
The exhibition’s opening drew distinguished guests, including representatives from the Singapore Government, members of the diplomatic corps in Singapore, and avid art enthusiasts. A poetry reading by Mr. Eric Valles, Mr. Aaron Lee, and Ms. Alka Balain enriched the event, complemented by musical arrangements courtesy of the Embassy’s PAG-IBIG Officer, Mr. Christian Oliveros.
