Diplomats bid farewell to Uzbekistan’s Ambassador H.E. Shakirov Kakhramon and H.E. Agustin Garcia Lopez Loaeza, Ambassador of Mexico and the Dean of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps paid tribute to the former Dean and his contributions to the Corps
IN Dean Agustin Garcia Lopez Loaeza (Ambassador of Mexico to Singapore) speech bidding farewell to Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Shakirov Kakhramon at Vatos City House, he paid tribute to Ambassador Shakirov for his outstanding performance as a former Dean of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps of Singapore here from 1st of May 2022 to 31st of March 2023. The Mexican Ambassador also bid him farewell and looked forward to time when their paths would soon cross again.
The Dean added that Ambassador Shakirov Kakhramon had carried out his duty with great leadership, expertise, and wisdom, supporting and representing his country plus enhancing the bilateral relationships with the host country, and strengthening the multilateral relationships with our countries.
Ambassador Loaeza noted that among the major achievements of his tenure in Singapore, was the official visit of the Uzbekistan President Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Singapore in January 2023 and the official visit of the former President of Singapore, Madam Halimah Yacob to Uzbekistan on May 2023 and the boost to bilateral relations that took place during such high level missions. Few diplomats can boast such an achievement.
As previously mentioned H.E., Shakirov Kakhramon, was the Dean of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps from 1st of May 2022 to 31st of March 2023. During this period, Ambassador Kakhramon amply fulfilled the objective he set out to achieve, and supported the diplomatic colleagues, and accelerated and arranged events, with government, business, and social circles. Dean Agustin Loaeza said, that he was fortunate to have worked with Ambassador Kakhramon and continue his commendable work.
Commending his Ambassador Shakirov Kakhramon’s Love for nature the Dean said, “he likes nature, and despite the commendable synergy between nature and developed structures in the City State, for him, the untouched forests here in Singapore are the most unique, and as he used to say, in Singapore “you feel real nature, you feel near the earth”, it is indeed becoming a real City in nature.
Speaking about the common passion between Singapore and Uzbekiatan, the love for food. The Dean shared that Chilli crab and visits to hawker centres are the food memories that he will take with him back home.
Dean Loaeza shared a story from the writer Shukur Kholmirzaev called ‘The character of the Uzbeks’, “You may ask what I saw in Uzbekistan and what conclusion I made. I saw here the sweet-tempered, modest behavior and native nature of the Uzbeks… In spite of all bareness and difficulties they had not changed their gentle attitude and their miraculous, legendary hospitability and added that he had experienced these characteristics with Ambassador Kakhramon. Humane features were still alive in their instincts. These feelings of similar family values, love for culture and respect and admiration for colleagues and for Singapore are also shared by Dean Loaeza’s wife, Mrs Katya Anaya De La Fuente who marked the event with a special dish for this occasion (see accompanying video clip)
Uzbekistan which is in Central Asia has been historically an important part of the overland Great Silk Road trade route, linking China with the Middle East and imperial Rome. Wishing Ambassador Kakhramon well the Dean added, “May this departure be the beginning of the discovery of new routes, new paths on which we will meet again, and which will allow us to remember these years we shared together.”
