THE High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore hosted an Iftar dinner on Thursday, 04 April 2024, for the Sri Lankan Muslim community residing in Singapore. The event aimed to share the blessings of Ramadan and promote the timeless message of love, unity, and brotherhood.
Dr. Maliki Bin Osman, Minister in the Prime Minister’s office and Second Minister for Education and Foreign Affairs graced the celebration as the Guest of Honour. The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps in Singapore, the Sri Lankan expatriate Muslim community, and esteemed special invitees.
High Commissioner Senarath Dissanayake welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of Ramadan and promoting interfaith harmony for societal advancement. He highlighted Sri Lanka’s heritage of multiculturalism and religious pluralism as key factors in fostering social cohesion and promoting interfaith dialogue and coexistence.
Mr. Ahamed Al Attas from the Balavi mosque in Singapore conducted the sermon and Muslim religious observances. Following the breaking of the fast, attendees engaged in Magrib prayers. The evening concluded with a traditional Sri Lankan Iftar dinner organized by the High Commission, allowing guests to savor the flavors of Sri Lankan cuisine.
