During his visit to Kuala Lumpur for the Defence Services Asia Exhibition, Singapore’s Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen reaffirms strong bilateral ties with Malaysia.
Singapore’s Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen, attended the 18th Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from May 6 to 7, 2024. The event, a significant gathering in the defense sector, was inaugurated by Malaysia’s Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, with an official dinner hosted by the Malaysian Minister of Defence, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
During his visit, Dr Ng met with his Malaysian counterpart, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. The meeting underscored the enduring and warm defense relationship between Singapore and Malaysia. Both ministers discussed various aspects of their defense ties, acknowledging the positive progress and agreeing to further enhance their relationship through increased interactions at various levels.
The discussions also covered regional security issues, highlighting both nations’ dedication to strengthening cooperation through multilateral platforms such as the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), ADMM-Plus, and the Five Power Defence Arrangements. These forums serve as critical venues for discussing and managing security challenges in the region.
Dr Ng’s participation in the Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference reflects the ongoing commitment of Singapore to maintain and strengthen its defense relations with Malaysia. Regular interactions between the two defense establishments—ranging from joint military exercises and professional exchanges to participation in courses—continue to bolster the mutual understanding and professional ties between the armed forces of both nations.
