General Charoenchai Hinthao’s visit to Singapore from August 15-16, 2024, reinforced military cooperation between the two nations, marked by high-level meetings and a prestigious award
General Charoenchai Hinthao, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, led a delegation on an official visit to the Republic of Singapore from August 15th-16th, 2024. During his visit, General Charoenchai met with key Singaporean defence officials, including Dr. Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Defence; Vice Admiral Aaron Beng, Chief of Defence Force; and Major General David Neo, Chief of Army, for discussions on military cooperation.
A significant highlight of the visit was H.E. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, attended the ceremony in which General Charoenchai was awarded the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera) – the Meritorious Service Medal (Military). The award recognized General Charoenchai’s exceptional leadership and his crucial role in enhancing the relationship between the Royal Thai Army and the Singapore Army, symbolising the strengthened collaboration between the two military force.
In addition to the award ceremony, Ambassador Ureerat hosted a luncheon in honour of General Charoenchai, where they discussed ongoing military cooperation, including joint exercises such as Kocha Singa and Flash Thunder. The discussions also covered support for educational opportunities in various military courses, including cadet courses, junior and senior officer courses, staff courses, and cyber courses. These initiatives aim to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of both armies, ensuring their readiness to address future threats and contribute to regional security.
