The Philippine Embassy in Singapore hosted tours of the Singapore Maritime Gallery and Sustainable Singapore Gallery for its personnel and families, promoting awareness of maritime heritage and sustainability.

Singapore, 7 September 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore organized educational tours for its personnel and their families in observance of Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) this September. The tours featured visits to two significant galleries in Singapore: the Singapore Maritime Gallery, which showcases the nation’s rich maritime heritage and innovation, and the Sustainable Singapore Gallery, which focuses on the country’s efforts in environmental conservation and sustainable development.

At the Singapore Maritime Gallery, participants explored the evolution of Singapore’s maritime industry, learning about the advancements in port development, shipbuilding, and maritime trade. The tour highlighted the importance of cutting-edge technologies employed to ensure the sustainability, safety, and security of Singapore’s waters. Similarly, the visit to the Sustainable Singapore Gallery offered insights into Singapore’s climate change mitigation efforts, clean energy initiatives, and marine environment protection, aligning with the Philippines’ commitment to environmental sustainability.

As both the Philippines and Singapore are maritime nations, the tours emphasized the shared importance of the sea to their economies and histories. Both countries recognize the significance of safe and open global trade routes, and their mutual vulnerability to climate change has driven a shared focus on implementing sustainable policies. This educational activity marks one of the many initiatives celebrating 55 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations, underscoring the enduring cooperation in trade, defense, and maritime collaboration.
