Deputy Prime Ministers Heng Swee Keat and Dr. Lee Ju-Ho reaffirmed ties and explored new collaborations during a productive meeting in Seoul.
Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Research Foundation, Heng Swee Keat, was hosted a lunch by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education of the Republic of Korea, Dr. Lee Ju-Ho, on 19 November 2024 in Seoul, South Korea.
During the meeting, the leaders reaffirmed the robust and longstanding partnership between Singapore and South Korea, highlighting the importance of continued collaboration. Discussions focused on expanding joint efforts in science and research, particularly between universities and research institutes, and translating these efforts into innovation and enterprise outcomes to foster future economic growth.
They also explored advancing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and educational technologies to enhance support for students and teachers, aiming to improve overall learning outcomes.
In addition, DPM Heng and DPM Lee expressed their shared commitment to upgrading bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership in 2025, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Singapore-ROK diplomatic relations.
This meeting underscored the mutual aspiration to deepen cooperation in science, education, and innovation, further strengthening the ties between Singapore and South Korea.
