Marking its 20th edition, the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown returns as part of SG60 celebrations, featuring light projections, live performances, and a dazzling fireworks finale.
Singapore, 27 November 2024 – The Marina Bay Singapore Countdown, presented by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), is set to celebrate its 20th edition with a host of events to ring in 2025. As part of Singapore’s SG60 commemorations, this year’s countdown is included in the ONE Countdown series, which features celebratory events across the island to mark Singapore’s 60th birthday.
The festivities have already begun with one of the world’s largest light and multimedia shows making its Singapore debut. Visitors to Marina Bay can anticipate more exciting activities in the weeks leading to the new year, including free performances by local talents at Esplanade and the Brightening Lives light projections on The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, featuring inspiring works by artists with disabilities from ART:DIS.
From December 26 to 31, 2024, The Fullerton Hotel will come alive with artwork projections every 15 minutes between 8:00 PM and 10:30 PM (extended to 10:45 PM on New Year’s Eve). These displays echo the values of SG60, celebrating resilience, diversity, and unity. The three newly commissioned pieces explore themes such as teamwork and overcoming mental health challenges, while five adapted artworks highlight the talents of accomplished ART:DIS artists.
The festivities will culminate on December 31, 2024, with a spectacular fireworks display around Marina Bay. Designed by the creators of STAR ISLAND, the 30-minute show will feature four choreographed chapters, starting at 11:00 PM and culminating in a grand finale at midnight to welcome 2025.
Additionally, Esplanade will host its popular Come Together performance series throughout December, featuring rising stars such as The Midnight Suns and Roseville Deluxe. Visitors can also enjoy the immersive experience of illumi’s themed light worlds, offering a magical backdrop for the New Year countdown.
For public safety, crowd control measures will be implemented around the Bay on New Year’s Eve. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport and follow updates via the Crowd@MarinaBay map for a smooth and enjoyable experience.
