President Tharman Shanmugaratnam reviewed the contingents at the 135th Officer Cadet Commissioning Parade this evening

441 cadets from the Singapore Armed Forces were commissioned as officers after completing an intensive 38-week training programme.

Singapore, 2 December 2024 – President Tharman Shanmugaratnam officiated the Officer Cadet Commissioning Parade at the SAFTI Military Institute this evening. A total of 441 cadets were commissioned as officers in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), comprising 339 from the Singapore Army, 53 from the Republic of Singapore Navy, and 49 from the Republic of Singapore Air Force.

The parade celebrated the culmination of 38 weeks of rigorous training at the Officer Cadet School. Throughout the programme, cadets underwent realistic and demanding exercises to enhance their combat, planning, and leadership skills. The newly commissioned officers will now assume command, instructional, or staff roles within the SAF.

The ceremony was attended by Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen, Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral Aaron Beng, senior officials from the Ministry of Defence and the SAF, as well as the cadets’ families and friends, who gathered to celebrate this significant milestone.

President Tharman commended the cadets for their dedication and perseverance, noting their role in upholding Singapore’s peace and security. He also emphasised the importance of leadership and resilience in safeguarding the nation.
