Vietnam Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang met with Singapore’s Minister for Defence Dr. Ng Eng Hen to discuss regional security and strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.

Vietnam’s Minister of National Defence General (GEN) Phan Van Giang met with Singapore’s Minister for Defence Dr. Ng Eng Hen on the morning of March 12, 2025, reaffirming the strong defence relationship between Singapore and Vietnam.
During their meeting, both Ministers exchanged views on geopolitical developments and explored ways to deepen defence cooperation. This discussion aligns with the elevation of diplomatic relations between the two nations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
GEN Giang’s visit to Singapore is part of the official delegation led by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, from March 11 to 13, 2025. As part of his official engagements, GEN Giang inspected a Guard of Honour at Singapore’s Ministry of Defence.
His visit highlights the warm and friendly defence ties between Singapore and Vietnam, which are reinforced through regular high-level visits, bilateral dialogues, training courses, and professional exchanges. These mutually beneficial interactions continue to enhance professional and strategic cooperation between the two nations, strengthening regional stability and security.
