The Letter Of Intent, Signed During LIMA 2025, Marks A Strategic Collaboration To Apply Space-Based Technologies In Iskandar Malaysia And The JS-SEZ.

Langkawi, May 2025 – The Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) and the Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA) formalised a strategic partnership during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2025) with the exchange of a Letter of Intent (LoI). The agreement signalled a shared commitment to enhancing regional planning and development through space-based technologies.

The LoI was exchanged between YBhg. Dato’ Gs. Haji Azlikamil bin Napiah, Director General of MYSA, and En. Nor Hisham bin Mohd Yusof, Federal Commissioner of IRDA. The signing was witnessed by YBhg. Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohd Nor Azman Hassan, Deputy Secretary General (Technology Development), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

The collaboration aims to strengthen the application of remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and ICT in delivering up-to-date, high-resolution satellite imagery of Iskandar Malaysia and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). These technologies are expected to provide critical visual data to support investor decision-making and strategic development planning in the region.

By integrating satellite-based geospatial tools into development processes, the initiative is aligned with national efforts to accelerate digital transformation and smart governance. It also enhances transparency and efficiency in monitoring spatial growth and investment readiness.
