The Chinese Embassy and Singapore Press Club co-hosted a media dialogue event fostering open exchange on regional and international affairs.
Singapore, 30 July 2025 – The Chinese Embassy in Singapore, led by H.E. Cao Zhongming, in collaboration with the Singapore Press Club, held an “Embassy Night” media dialogue event at the Shangri-La Hotel, drawing participation from nearly 80 senior representatives across the media and diplomatic sectors.
The evening served as a platform for candid conversation and engagement between the Chinese diplomatic mission and Singapore’s media community. The event featured informal dialogue sessions, exchanges on pressing regional issues, and insights into China’s foreign policy direction and global cooperation initiatives.
Media professionals from local and international outlets—including Lianhe Zaobao, The Straits Times, Channel NewsAsia, Bloomberg, Reuters, Agence France-Presse, Nikkei, and The Wall Street Journal—attended the event. Among them was Singapore Press Club President, Mr Patrick Daniel, Editor-in-Chief, English and Malay Newspapers Division, Singapore Press Holdings, who joined the dialogue with fellow editors and journalists.
During the evening, guests discussed topics ranging from China’s regional engagement with ASEAN, global governance frameworks, economic developments, and international relations. The session also included a Q&A segment, where media attendees raised questions on regional diplomacy, trade, and bilateral relations.
The event reflected a shared commitment to fostering better understanding between the diplomatic community and the media. It also underscored the importance of transparent communication and dialogue in navigating global challenges and strengthening multilateral ties.
Hosted in the elegant setting of the Shangri-La Hotel, the “Embassy Night” created a conducive environment for bridge-building between two influential sectors—diplomacy and journalism—reinforcing Singapore’s role as a hub for international engagement.
