Singapore, 3 September 2025 – Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, accompanied by his wife Loo Tze Lui, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat in New Delhi, as part of his ongoing official visit to India from 2 to 4 September 2025.

Raj Ghat, the memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, India’s Father of the Nation, is a site of reflection where world leaders and dignitaries traditionally pay their respects. During his visit, Prime Minister Wong laid a wreath and observed a moment of silence in honour of Gandhi’s enduring values of peace, non-violence, and unity.

The visit was part of a wider programme of engagements aimed at strengthening the longstanding relationship between Singapore and India. Prime Minister Wong’s itinerary includes meetings with Indian leaders, discussions on trade and investment cooperation, and participation in events highlighting the partnership between the two countries. His tribute at Raj Ghat symbolised the respect and regard Singapore holds for India’s historical legacy and its role in shaping regional and global affairs.

The solemn ceremony at Raj Ghat also underscored the importance of shared values between Singapore and India, particularly in fostering peace, inclusivity, and mutual respect. Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violence continues to resonate globally and remains relevant in today’s interconnected world.
