
The Secretary-General of ASEAN led the ASEAN Secretariat delegation at the ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting with International Financial Institutions. The virtual meeting focused on global and regional economic outlooks and strategies to strengthen resilience amid evolving economic and geopolitical developments.
Dr Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, led the ASEAN Secretariat’s delegation to participate in the ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (AFMGM) – International Financial Institutions (IFIs) meeting held via videoconference.

The meeting brought together ASEAN finance ministers, central bank governors, and representatives from international financial institutions to discuss economic developments affecting the region. The engagement forms part of ASEAN’s ongoing coordination with global financial partners to support economic stability and cooperation.

During the session, participants exchanged views on the global and regional economic outlook presented by the IFIs. Discussions also addressed thematic issues related to global trade and explored strategies to strengthen resilience in response to current economic and geopolitical developments.
The dialogue highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between ASEAN and international financial institutions in navigating economic uncertainties and sustaining regional growth. Such engagements are expected to support coordinated policy approaches and reinforce ASEAN’s efforts toward financial stability and economic integration.
