The South African High Commission in Singapore welcomed the Standing Committee of the Auditor-General for an official visit from 25 to 26 June 2026, aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation and promoting the exchange of best practices in parliamentary oversight and public sector auditing. The programme reflected the shared commitment of South Africa and Singapore to advancing effective governance, accountability, and transparency through constructive dialogue.

During the visit, the delegation held meetings with Singapore’s Public Accounts Committee of Parliament and the Auditor-General’s Office. Discussions provided an opportunity to compare approaches to parliamentary oversight, audit processes, and institutional frameworks that support sound public financial management. The delegation also met with Singapore Auditor-General Ng Wai Choong and Deputy Auditor-General Rina Chua, fostering valuable exchanges on audit responsibilities and oversight mechanisms.

The engagements enabled both sides to share experiences, identify common priorities, and establish bilateral contacts that could support future cooperation between their respective institutions. As part of the programme, the South African High Commission hosted a debriefing session led by High Commissioner Madiepetsane Charlotte Lobe. The session provided an overview of the Mission’s work in Singapore while underscoring the role of parliamentary engagement in advancing bilateral relations. It also offered an opportunity to reflect on the outcomes of the visit and explore avenues for continued collaboration between South Africa and Singapore.
