Thailand is stepping up efforts to deepen economic cooperation with Singapore through high-level engagements focused on the digital economy, sustainable investment, and regional business collaboration. The meetings also paved the way for Thailand’s participation at the upcoming ASEAN Conference 2026.
Thailand is reinforcing its economic partnership with Singapore through a series of high-level meetings aimed at expanding trade, investment, and business collaboration. On 28–29 June 2026, H.E. Mrs. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Ambassador-Designate of the Kingdom of Thailand, met separately with Mr. Kok Ping Soon, Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), and Mr. Sam Cheong, Head of Group FDI Advisory at UOB, together with senior executives from the bank.
The discussions centred on enhancing economic and investment cooperation between Thailand and Singapore, with a strong emphasis on emerging sectors driving the new economy. Both sides explored opportunities in the digital economy, carbon credit markets, and initiatives that support innovation and sustainable business growth across the region.
Another key area of discussion focused on strengthening connections between foreign investors and Thai small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). By encouraging greater investment into local businesses, the initiative aims to stimulate Thailand’s grassroots economy, create employment opportunities across the country, and foster more inclusive economic development.
The meetings also underscored the importance of public-private collaboration in advancing regional economic integration. Singapore’s business community and financial institutions continue to play a significant role in supporting cross-border investment and facilitating partnerships that benefit businesses in both countries.
During the meetings, both the Singapore Business Federation and UOB invited Ambassador-Designate Waraphannee Damrongmanee to participate in the upcoming ASEAN Conference 2026 this July. The event will provide an important platform for Thailand to showcase its investment potential, strengthen engagement with regional and international investors, and promote new opportunities for economic cooperation across ASEAN.
