Singapore Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing presented 101 defence scholarships at an awards ceremony at the Temasek Club, recognising recipients for academic excellence and leadership qualities. He encouraged the scholars to develop expertise in emerging technologies and uphold strong leadership values as they prepare for careers in Singapore’s defence sector.

The scholarships included the SAF Scholarship, SAF Merit Scholarship, SAF Engineering Scholarship, Defence Merit Scholarship, SAF Medicine and Dentistry Scholarships, PSC Scholarship (Engineering) – Defence and Security, and DSTA Scholarship.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Chan emphasised the importance of staying ahead of technological developments and contributing to Singapore’s defence innovation. He also highlighted that effective leadership depends not only on strategy and technology, but also on the people who serve across MINDEF, the SAF and the wider defence community.

The recipients will pursue undergraduate studies at local and overseas universities before returning to take on various command, management, medical, engineering and technological roles across Singapore’s defence sector. Their future appointments are expected to support Singapore’s long-term defence readiness and technological development.
