A 33-member Singapore contingent comprising officers from the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) was deployed to Nepal to support disaster relief efforts following flash floods along the Nepal-China border. In response to Nepal’s request for assistance, 17 SPF officers and two HSA officers from the Forensic Medicine Division departed for Nepal on 1 and 2 September 2026, with a further 14 SPF officers scheduled to deploy in the following days.

The contingent was led by Contingent Commander Assistant Commissioner of Police Patrick Tan. The team included officers with expertise in Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) and aerial surveillance, who were deployed to provide specialised support to the Nepali authorities during the relief operations.

The advance team departed Singapore on 1 September, with Ms. Sim Ann, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Home Affairs, at Changi Airport to send off the officers.

The deployment was made following Nepal’s request for assistance in its response to the flash floods along the Nepal-China border. The SPF officers were tasked with supporting disaster response activities, including DVI and aerial surveillance, while officers from HSA’s Forensic Medicine Division provided specialist forensic expertise.

The remaining 14 SPF officers were expected to join the contingent over the following days, bringing the total deployment to 33 personnel. The contingent’s combined capabilities were intended to support the Nepali authorities in their disaster relief efforts.

The deployment involved cooperation between Singapore’s law enforcement and forensic authorities, with personnel from the SPF and HSA contributing specialised expertise to the response. The contingent’s work in Nepal was focused on assisting local authorities with disaster-related operations following the flash floods.
