Thai musicians and educators participated in an international contemporary music festival in Singapore.
On 30 August 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore, represented by Mrs. Pichayada Thurapun, Minister-Counsellor, attended Composium 2026, an international festival and academic forum for contemporary music in Singapore. The event featured the participation of Thai music professionals, educators and students, including Dr. Narong Prangcharoen and a Thai string quartet from the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (PGVIM).
Dr. Narong Prangcharoen participated as a member of the international judging panel for the competition. His involvement provided representation from Thailand within the festival’s international adjudication, alongside music professionals from other participating institutions and countries.
The Thai delegation also included a string quartet comprising faculty members and students from PGVIM. The quartet provided musical accompaniment for the competition finalists, contributing to the performance programme at Composium 2026.
Composium 2026 served as both a contemporary music festival and an academic forum, providing opportunities for engagement among music institutions and professionals at the international level. The programme included competitive and academic elements, with participation from musicians, educators and students.
The involvement of Thai representatives provided opportunities for Thai music educators and students to engage with international counterparts and institutions. Through the participation of an experienced composer and adjudicator alongside emerging musicians from PGVIM, Thailand was represented in both the academic and performance components of the event.
The Royal Thai Embassy’s attendance at Composium 2026 also highlighted the Embassy’s engagement with Thai cultural and educational participation in Singapore. The participation of Thai music professionals and students contributed to international exposure for Thailand’s contemporary music sector while providing opportunities for professional and academic networking.
