Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Second Minister for Education Dr Maliki Bin Osman was on a working visit to Riau Islands (KEPRI) province, Indonesia, from 10 to 12 August 2023.
During the visit, Minister Maliki was hosted to breakfast by KEPRI Governor Ansar Ahmad and his spouse, KEPRI Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Member Dewi Kumalasari in Tanjung Pinang. Governor Ansar and his wife hosted Minister Maliki to a tour of the historic island of Pulau Penyengat, where Minister Maliki and Governor Ansar also attended Friday prayers at the Grand Mosque of the Sultan of Riau.
In Batam, Minister Maliki had lunch with Batam Mayor and ex-officio BP Batam Chairman Muhammad Rudi, his spouse KEPRI Vice Governor Marlin Agustina, and their children, Randi Zulmariadi and Rani Rafitriyani. Minister Maliki also had coffee with young business personalities and breakfast with the Batam media. In these engagements, both sides took stock of the strong relationship between Singapore and KEPRI, including the strengthening of our cooperation in the agri-food industry and the digital economy sector. Minister Maliki also visited Batam State Polytechnic, Batamindo Green Farm, and hosted a badminton session for Mayor Rudi, BP Batam, and the Singapore community in Batam.
Minister Maliki was the Guest-of-Honour at the National Day Reception hosted by the Singapore Consulate-General in Batam, where he and his wife performed an instrumental duet on the guzheng and piano to raise funds for Red Cross Batam.
Minister Maliki returns to Singapore on 12 August 2023.
