Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat addressed a crowd of attendees at the Clean and Green Singapore Day 2023, held on November 4, 2023, in conjunction with the East Coast Green Festival at Greenspace+. He commended the collaborative efforts of residents, corporate partners, and community groups in advancing green initiatives since the launch of the East Coast Green Pillar in 2020. Anticipating Greenspace+’s operationalization in 2024, he expressed confidence in its potential to enhance the vibrancy and innovation of East Coast.
Highlighting Singapore’s reputation as a clean and green city, DPM Heng Swee Keat paid tribute to Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, emphasizing the enduring legacy of his greening campaign. Commemorating the 60th anniversary of Singapore’s greening efforts, he noted significant progress in the OneMillionTrees movement, with over 600,000 trees planted since 2020.
The Deputy Prime Minister detailed the Singapore Green Plan 2030, emphasizing initiatives such as increased tree planting, electric vehicle promotion, and solar energy utilization. He also announced new therapeutic horticulture programs at three locations, offering residents opportunities for wellness and engagement with nature.
