Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen embarked on a two-day working visit to Thailand from 5 to 6 November 2023. The highlight of his visit was the participation in the Defense & Security 2023 Exhibition, a significant event in the defense industry calendar. The exhibition’s opening ceremony was graced by Thailand’s Minister of Defence, Sutin Klungsang, along with various high-ranking officials from around the world.

During the sidelines of the exhibition, Dr Ng held a crucial meeting with Mr Sutin. Both leaders took the opportunity to reaffirm the close and long-standing defense relationship shared by Singapore and Thailand. Dr Ng expressed gratitude for Thailand’s unwavering support for the training activities of the Singapore Armed Forces on Thai soil, which has contributed significantly to the professional development of the armed forces from both nations.

The discussions between the two Ministers focused on avenues to further fortify defense cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Additionally, they explored strategies to bolster the regional security framework through the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM)/ADMM-Plus platform. The commitment to collaborative security efforts within the ASEAN region was a central theme of the discussions.

Dr Ng’s visit to Thailand serves as a testament to the enduring defense relations between Singapore and Thailand.
