The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Philippines was honored with the Digital Society Award at the Festival of Innovation in Singapore for its innovative digital transformation in serving Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
ON 26 March 2024, at the Sands Expo Convention Center in Singapore, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Philippines was awarded the Digital Society Award by GovInsider during the Festival of Innovation. The DMW, a Philippine government agency dedicated to protecting the rights and welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), was recognized for its outstanding digital transformation efforts in enhancing services for OFWs.
Accepting the award was Atty. Eduard C. Ferrer, Officer-In-Charge and Assistant Labor Attache of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO)-Singapore, and Engr. Gil Orense of the DMW Office of the Secretary. The DMW’s digitalization initiatives were lauded for their significant impact on improving service delivery to OFWs.
The Festival of Innovation, organized annually by GovInsider, aims to showcase innovative ideas and solutions that can revolutionize public services. GovInsider, based in Singapore, promotes cross-border collaboration and innovative thinking among public servants in the Asia Pacific region.
In addition to the DMW, other Philippine government agencies were also recognized at the Festival of Innovation: Chairperson Emilio B. Aquino of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) received the Dare to Do Award; Mr. Jules Carl R. Celebrado, Program Head of Brain and Mental Health R&D at DOST was honored with a Special Mention for the Rising Digital Star Award; and the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) received a special citation for the Agility Award.
