At the 2024 Administrative Service Dinner, Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean emphasized the importance of principles including Connectedness, Creativity, Cohesion, Courage, and Continuity for Singapore’s future success.
During the Administrative Service Dinner held on March 26, 2024, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean delivered a keynote address that underlined the crucial components for a robust partnership between the political and public service sectors. The event also paid tribute to retiring Permanent Secretaries who have significantly contributed to Singapore’s development, including Mr. Loh Khum Yean, Ms. Chan Lai Fung, and Mr. Ravi Menon.
Minister Teo highlighted the essential principles of Connectedness, Creativity, Cohesion, Courage, and Continuity as foundational to Singapore’s continued prosperity and stability. He recognized the outstanding contributions of the retiring Permanent Secretaries and stressed the importance of leadership renewal, shared experiences, and mutual understanding among the next generation of leaders in navigating future challenges.
Minister Teo also discussed Singapore’s approach to international relations, economic policies, and innovation, emphasizing the need for a connected and creative approach to address global challenges such as climate change and technological disruption. He underscored the importance of social cohesion and courage in leadership to make decisions in the country’s best interest, even when they are difficult or unpopular.
As Singapore prepares for the transition from the third to the fourth generation of political leadership, Teo expressed confidence in the ability of the new generation to continue the legacy of strong governance and unity. He urged current and future leaders to embrace the principles he outlined to ensure Singapore remains a resilient and vibrant nation.
