Ambassador Alisher Qayumov’s presentation of credentials marks a new chapter in Uzbekistan-Singapore relations, highlighting mutual commitment to cooperation and friendship.
The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan, Alisher Qayumov, presented his credentials to the President of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam. The ceremony took place at the “Istana” government residence, where a guard of honor was lined up in honor of the ambassador.
During their meeting, President Shanmugaratnam and Ambassador Qayumov discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbekistan-Singapore cooperation. President Shanmugaratnam commended the reforms underway in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, noting significant progress in building a strong civil society and conducting an open and transparent government.
The President also highlighted the increasing attractiveness of Uzbekistan for international business, including Singaporean companies. As a testament to this, a delegation led by the Speaker of the Singapore Parliament, comprising representatives from over 25 companies, will participate in the upcoming Tashkent International Investment Forum.
Ambassador Qayumov’s visit to Singapore follows his appointment and his earlier work as a counselor at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Germany. He replaces Kahramon Shokirov, who served as the acting ambassador of Uzbekistan to Singapore (2018–2024) and Australia (2022–2024) (based in Singapore).
