High Commissioner of Sri Lanka visited the Monetary Authority of Singapore to discuss potential collaborations in Fintech, including Sri Lanka’s participation in the upcoming Fintech Festival 2024.
During his visit to the Monetary Authority of Singapore on 24th April 2024, the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka engaged in discussions with Mr. Sopnendu Mohanthy, the Chief Fintech Officer & Chairman of Elevandi. The meeting aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration between the two countries, particularly in the fields of IT and Fintech industries.
The High Commissioner provided insights into the current developments in Sri Lanka’s IT and Fintech sectors, emphasising potential areas for cooperation. A focal point of the discussion was Sri Lanka’s interest in participating in the Fintech Festival 2024, scheduled to take place from 6th to 8th November 2024. The Festival, renowned as one of the largest fintech events globally, presents an ideal platform for Sri Lankan companies to showcase their innovations and explore partnerships.
Mr. Mohanthy expressed willingness to support Sri Lanka’s participation in the Fintech Festival 2024 by facilitating the establishment of a Sri Lankan pavilion. This strategic move aims to maximise the benefits for Sri Lankan participants, given the prominence and scale of the Singapore Fintech Festival.
Efforts are underway at the High Commission of Sri Lanka to coordinate Sri Lanka’s involvement in the Fintech Festival 2024. Negotiations with relevant government authorities and leading chambers in Sri Lanka are in progress to ensure a smooth and productive participation process.
Present at the meeting were Mr. Yasantha Yaddehi, Minister (Commercial) of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore, and Mr. Alvinder Singh, Deputy Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, underscoring the importance of the discussions in fostering bilateral collaborations in the Fintech sector.
