SG Dr. Kao Kim Hourn emphasizes the increasing importance of ASEAN Entities in addressing challenges and seizing opportunities.
JAKARTA, 14 May 2024 – The Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, inaugurated the 8th Forum of Entities associated with ASEAN at the ASEAN Headquarters in Jakarta. In his opening remarks, Dr Kao highlighted the critical role of ASEAN Entities in transforming challenges into opportunities. He expressed optimism that the Forum would continue to serve as a vital platform for fruitful discussions, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas among various stakeholders listed in the ASEAN Charter.
The Forum drew more than ninety participants, representing approximately forty entities and centers associated with ASEAN. The event featured an address by the Chair of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN, who outlined Lao PDR’s Chairmanship objectives and priorities. The Forum also engaged in an interactive discussion with two Deputy Secretaries-General of ASEAN: Dato’ Astanah Abdul Aziz, for the Political Security Community, and Nararya Soeprapto, for Community and Corporate Affairs.
