On May 28, 2024, four foreign Heads of Mission presented their credentials to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Istana, marking their official roles as ambassadors to Singapore.

Singapore, May 28, 2024: In a formal ceremony held at the Istana, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam received the credentials of four new foreign ambassadors to Singapore. The presentations were made by the ambassadors of Peru, Congo, Ethiopia, and Belarus in separate ceremonies.

His Excellency Francisco Tenya-Hasegawa
Ambassador of Peru

His Excellency Francisco Tenya-Hasegawa is a seasoned diplomat with over 35 years of experience. Before his appointment to Singapore, he served as the Director General of Treaties at Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His extensive career includes roles as Secretary General of the Ministry, Executive Director of the Peru Chapter of the Binational Development Plan of the Peru-Ecuador Border Region, and assignments in Japan, Jamaica, Ecuador, Bolivia, and the United Nations in New York. Ambassador Tenya-Hasegawa holds a Bachelor of Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and a Master’s in Tourism Management from Spanish institutions. He is married to Ivy Koizumi Ito, and they have four children.

His Excellency Jacques Jean Luc Nyanga
Ambassador of Congo

His Excellency Jacques Jean Luc Nyanga has been serving as an ambassador to China since August 2022. He has held significant roles within the Congolese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Deputy Secretary General and Head of the General Services Department. Ambassador Nyanga’s career in civil service began in 1991 and includes positions in the President’s Office and various ministries. He holds a Higher Diploma in Administration and Management from the Ecole Supérieure d’Administration, de Commerce et de l’Industrie and a Higher Education Diploma from Ecole des Hautes Etudes Internationales. Ambassador Nyanga is married with five children.

His Excellency Fekadu Beyene Aleka
Ambassador of Ethiopia

His Excellency Fekadu Beyene Aleka was appointed as Ethiopia’s ambassador to Indonesia in June 2023. He previously headed Ethiopia’s Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Commission and served as Minister of Livestock and Fisheries. His career also includes roles as a member of the Ethiopian Parliament and various scientific councils. With an academic background, he served as President of the Ethiopian Civil Service University and founding President of Wollega University. Ambassador Fekadu holds a PhD in Dairy Technology from the Agricultural University of Norway, an MSc in Animal Production from Haramaya University, and a BSc in Agriculture from Addis Ababa University. He is married and has five children.

His Excellency Raman Ramanouski
Ambassador of Belarus

His Excellency Raman Ramanouski has been a diplomat since 1993, starting his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus. He has held key positions, including Deputy Director-General for Europe and North America and Head of the European Cooperation Department. His international postings include assignments in France, Belgium, and the OSCE in Austria. Ambassador Ramanouski holds a PhD in History of International Relations and a degree from the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Belarus. He is currently the Ambassador to Indonesia.
