President-elect and Minister of Defence of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto visits Singapore, delivering a special address at the Shangri-La Dialogue and meeting with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to discuss bilateral ties and regional cooperation.
President-elect and Minister of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto visited Singapore from 31 May to 2 June 2024. During his visit, he delivered a Special Address at the 21st edition of the Shangri-La Dialogue, an event organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies.
On 1 June 2024, President-elect Prabowo met with Prime Minister and Minister for Finance of Singapore, Lawrence Wong. The meeting served to reaffirm the strong bilateral ties and deep friendships between Singapore and Indonesia. Both leaders acknowledged the significant progress in bilateral cooperation in areas such as renewable energy and sustainability. They also exchanged views on various regional and international issues.
Prime Minister Wong and President-elect Prabowo emphasized the importance of continued collaboration among ASEAN countries in the face of a more complex and interconnected global environment. They highlighted the necessity of strengthening cooperation in their many areas of shared interest to navigate these challenges effectively.
