General Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Muhammad Hafizuddeain bin Jantan’s visit underscores the strong bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Malaysia.
The Chief of Army of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), General (GEN) Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Muhammad Hafizuddeain bin Jantan, completed his introductory visit to Singapore from July 22 to 24, 2024. During his visit, GEN Hafizuddeain called on Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Defence Mr. Zaqy Mohamad at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning. Both leaders reaffirmed the importance of maintaining strong ties between the Singapore Army and the Malaysian Army and discussed ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation between the two forces.
GEN Hafizuddeain also met with Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral Aaron Beng and Chief of Army Major-General David Neo, after inspecting the Guard of Honour at MINDEF. His visit included a tour of the SAF Commandos at Pasir Ris Camp, where he observed Close-Quarter Combat (CQB) and Parachute Drills at the Airborne-Trooper Training Facility. He experienced a ride on the Light Strike Vehicle Mark II and participated in a shooting exercise with the HK416 Assault Rifle using Man Marking Rounds. Additionally, GEN Hafizuddeain exchanged parachutist wings with Major-General Neo, symbolizing the close ties between the two armies.
GEN Hafizuddeain’s visit highlights the warm and long-standing bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Malaysia. The Singapore Army and the Malaysian Army regularly cooperate through exercises such as the annual bilateral Exercise Semangat Bersatu (XSB), high-level visits, professional exchanges, and cross-attendance of professional courses. These interactions have significantly enhanced mutual understanding and professional ties between the personnel of both armies.
