Dr. Kao Kim Hourn and H.E. Hun Many discuss ACCSM priorities and support for Cambodia’s upcoming chairmanship.
ON 6 August 2024, the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, met with H.E. Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on the sidelines of the Heads of Civil Service Meeting during the 22nd ASEAN Cooperation on Civil Service Matters (ACCSM) in Brunei Darussalam. This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss important issues related to civil service cooperation within the ASEAN region.
During their discussions, Dr. Kao reaffirmed the ASEAN Secretariat’s full support for Cambodia as it prepares to assume the ACCSM Chairmanship for the 2024-2026 term. The Secretary-General emphasized the importance of Cambodia’s role in leading ACCSM and highlighted the collaborative efforts needed to ensure successful chairmanship. Dr. Kao assured H.E. Hun that many of the Secretariat’s commitments were to assist in all necessary capacities.
The two leaders also exchanged views on the priorities for Cambodia’s chairmanship, including developing the post-2025 ACCSM Work Plan. They deliberated on strategies to enhance ACCSM’s role in ASEAN Community building, ensuring that civil service matters continue to support the overarching goals of ASEAN. This collaborative approach strengthens regional cooperation and integration, benefiting all member states.
