103 Singaporeans were awarded degrees and diplomas in Buddhist Studies from the Buddhist and Pali College, Singapore, during a ceremony held at the Mangala Vihara.

ON August 25, 2024, the Buddhist and Pali College, Singapore, held a graduation ceremony at the Mangala Vihara, where 103 Singaporean students were conferred Master’s degrees, Bachelor’s degrees, and diplomas in Buddhist Studies. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Neluwe Sumanawansa Thero, Vice-Chancellor of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka, and featured the attendance of Senarath Dissanayake, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Singapore, as the special guest, alongside Mrs. Malka Hewavitharana, Senior Assistant Registrar of the Buddhist and Pali University.

The graduation ceremony was marked by speeches from key figures including Professor Sumanawansa Thero, Pupule Seelananda Thero, the High Commissioner, Dr. Lim Ah Swan, and Kovida Jebsons Chia. Ms. Lim Aileng also addressed the attendees on behalf of the graduates and diplomats. The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore plays a pivotal role in coordinating the examinations for the Buddhist and Pali College, which has been affiliated with the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka for thirty years, offering a range of courses in Buddhism.

The event concluded with tokens of appreciation presented to the teaching and administrative staff of the Buddhist and Pali College, recognizing their dedication and service. The Buddhist and Pali College has been instrumental in promoting Buddhist education, with thousands of students completing its programs and contributing to the global spread of Buddhist teachings.
