Minister Al-Khorayef’s visit to Singapore aims to bolster industrial cooperation, explore automation and smart manufacturing, and promote human capital development between Saudi Arabia and Singapore.

Singapore, 1 September 2024 – Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef began his official visit to the Republic of Singapore, significantly strengthening industrial ties between the two nations. This visit, running from September 1 to 8, is a key part of Minister Al-Khorayef’s broader East Asian economic tour, including China.

During his time in Singapore, Al-Khorayef will engage with several high-profile figures, including the Minister of Manpower, and representatives from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). His itinerary also includes meetings with major Singaporean companies at the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) and a tour of Tuas Port, the largest automated port in the world.

This visit seeks to enhance collaboration in industrial sectors, particularly in automation, smart manufacturing solutions, and innovation. Additionally, it will focus on advancing human capital development and knowledge transfer. The Saudi-Singapore relationship is deeply rooted, with Saudi Arabia’s non-oil exports to Singapore totaling SAR9.3 billion in 2023, while imports from Singapore amounted to SAR5.9 billion. Key Saudi exports include plastics, chemical products, electrical equipment, and metals, while major imports from Singapore consist of ships, boats, optical instruments, medical devices, and pharmaceutical products.

Minister Al-Khorayef’s tour aims to identify mutual investment opportunities and attract high-quality investments to Saudi Arabia, further solidifying the bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Singapore.
