The Indian Performing Arts Convention (IPAC) 2024 brought together Sri Lanka, Singapore, and India, honouring key figures from the arts community at the Esplanade on September 29th, 2024
Singapore, 4 October 2024 – The Indian Performing Arts Convention (IPAC) 2024, a cultural celebration presented by the Apsaras Dance Company in Singapore, concluded on September 29th, 2024, at the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay. High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, HE Senarath Dissanayake, and High Commissioner of India, HE Dr. Shilpak Ambule, were among the esteemed guests attending the awards ceremony. This year’s IPAC, held from September 7th to 29th, highlighted the shared cultural heritage among Sri Lanka, Singapore, and India.
Several award recipients of Sri Lankan origin were honoured at the event, including Mrs. Radha Gopal Shetty, Mrs. Thavamalar Gunaratnam from Malaysia’s Temple of Fine Arts, and Mr. A. Sachithanthan, former Vice President of the Singapore Fine Arts Society. Their contributions to the performing arts were recognized in a ceremony that celebrated artistic excellence across borders.
Mr. Aravinth Kumarasamy, the Artistic Director of Apsaras Dance Company and a Sri Lankan Singaporean, played a pivotal role in organising IPAC 2024. Kumarasamy, who has been convening the convention in Singapore and Australia for 13 years, was praised for his dedication to fostering cultural connections through the performing arts.
The event underscored the importance of cultural exchange in building lasting relationships among nations, particularly through the preservation and celebration of traditional performing arts.
