The 22nd Exercise Singaroo highlights strong defense relations and interoperability between Singapore and Australia’s naval forces.

From October 28 to 30, 2024, the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) are conducting the 22nd annual Exercise Singaroo at RSS Singapura – Changi Naval Base. The exercise, aimed at bolstering cooperation and operational readiness, includes shore-based training and professional exchanges, covering areas such as conventional warfare and damage control. Participating vessels include the RSN’s Victory-class Missile Corvette RSS Vigour, the Formidable-class frigate RSS Stalwart, and the RAN’s Anzac-class frigate HMAS Stuart.

At the opening ceremony, Major Lim Guan Hong, Commanding Officer of RSS Vigour, emphasized the exercise’s role in enhancing interoperability and professional development, saying, “Exercise Singaroo is an important bilateral exercise which allows us to carry out high-end training across different domains, thereby enhancing interoperability and strengthening the friendship between both navies.”

Established in 1995, Exercise Singaroo is a testament to the long-standing defense ties between Singapore and Australia. In addition to joint exercises like Singaroo, the two countries maintain a strong defense relationship through high-level visits, dialogues, and professional exchanges, fostering ongoing collaboration and mutual understanding in regional security.
