Ambassador Ureerat Chareontoh celebrated Loy Krathong Festival 2024 at Wat Ananda Metyarama, underscoring the festival’s role in uniting the Thai community and promoting Thailand’s cultural heritage in Singapore.
SINGAPORE, 10 November 2024 — The Loy Krathong Festival 2024, a major celebration of Thai heritage, was hosted by Wat Ananda Metyarama and inaugurated with a speech by H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore. The event drew an enthusiastic crowd and was graced by H.E. Ms. Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Finance, and Second Minister for National Development, who attended as Guest of Honour.
In her speech, Ambassador Ureerat highlighted Loy Krathong’s importance in fostering unity within the Thai community and promoting Thailand’s cultural influence in Singapore. She affirmed the Royal Thai Embassy’s commitment to supporting cultural initiatives led by Thai temples and community groups across the nation. Ambassador Ureerat also actively participated in the traditional Krathong floating ceremony, where she interacted with both Thai and Singaporean attendees and greeted those staffing booths with Thai food and drinks.
The festival featured traditional Thai music, the symbolic Loy Krathong ceremony, a Miss Noppamas beauty contest, and a Thai food fair offering a variety of authentic Thai dishes provided by Thai associations and businesses in Singapore. The festival provided a platform for cultural exchange and a vibrant showcase of Thailand’s cultural heritage, attracting a large number of attendees. Mr. Wutthisak Pathomsart, Minister Counselor (Labour), represented the Thai Embassy on the judging panel for the Miss Noppamas contest, reflecting the Embassy’s involvement in celebrating and supporting the Thai community in Singapore.
