The sixth edition of Exercise Cooperation will focus on urban counter-terrorism operations, taking place in Zhumadian City, Henan, China, from 17 to 28 November 2024.

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will jointly conduct the sixth iteration of Exercise Cooperation in Zhumadian City, Henan, China, from 17 to 28 November 2024. The exercise, which builds upon last year’s collaboration, will focus on urban Counter-Terrorism (CT) operations.

Personnel from the SAF’s 3rd Singapore Division and 1st Commando Battalion will train alongside members of the PLA’s Central Theatre Command-Army’s 81st Army Group. Key activities include a battalion-level Command Post and Field Training Exercise, professional exchanges centred on CT operations in rescue scenarios, and tactical drills. The exercise will also feature small-arms live firing and cohesion-building activities aimed at enhancing mutual understanding and fostering camaraderie between participants.

Exercise Cooperation is an integral part of the SAF’s broader initiative to strengthen defence relations through bilateral and multilateral training exercises. It reflects the warm ties and ongoing cooperation between Singapore and China in defence matters. The two nations maintain regular interactions through high-level engagements, mutual visits, cross-attendance of courses, and academic exchanges, highlighting the robust relationship between their defence establishments.
