Singapore, 12 December 2024 – His Excellency Agustin Garcia-Lopez Loaeza, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Mexico to Singapore, hosted a memorable seated dinner reception at Red Sparrow to bid farewell to outgoing ambassadors H.E. Mai Phuoc Dung of Vietnam and H.E. Jonathan Kaplan of the United States, while also extending a warm welcome to new diplomats Amb-Designate H.E. Sebastian Breton Perez of Panama and Amb-Designate H.E. Christodoulos Margaritis of Greece. The event underscored the enduring diplomatic ties between these nations and Singapore.
In his speech, Ambassador Agustin reflected on the bittersweet nature of farewells and the excitement of new beginnings. He celebrated Ambassador Sebastian Breton Perez of Panama, noting his impressive qualifications in architectural design and business, as well as his role in Panama’s construction sector. He also welcomed Ambassador Christodoulos Margaritis of Greece, whose experience in international law and diplomacy positions him well to strengthen relations with Singapore.
The evening also paid tribute to the exceptional contributions of the outgoing ambassadors. Ambassador Mai Phuoc Dung’s tenure was highlighted for his efforts in advancing the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore, including the recent agreement to elevate their bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
