
India’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainable growth was spotlighted at the World Economic Forum 2025, with key strategies for a net-zero future
India reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and renewable energy at the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos, Switzerland. Smt. Gurneet Tej, Joint Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), represented the nation and outlined its strategic roadmap for achieving economic growth while prioritising sustainability.

During a panel discussion, Smt. Tej highlighted several key initiatives aimed at transforming India into a global leader in renewable energy. She emphasised that 50% of the country’s energy needs would be met through renewable sources by 2030. She also stressed the importance of aligning investor agendas with sustainability objectives by implementing clear guidelines and providing incentives under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes to encourage innovation.
Smt. Tej further underscored the government’s efforts to enhance the ease of doing business by introducing policies that support renewable energy adoption. She detailed plans to develop industrial corridors, which are expected to strengthen ecosystems for sustainable growth while driving transformative changes across industries.

India’s participation at Davos 2025 reinforced its leadership in sustainability and innovation. The initiatives presented demonstrated the country’s proactive approach to achieving a net-zero future, showcasing a robust framework for balancing economic development with environmental responsibility.
