
PM Hun Manet’s visit to Manila strengthens cooperation in trade, agriculture, and digital transformation.
Manila, 10th February 2025 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet commenced his inaugural official visit to the Philippines, aiming to bolster the longstanding relationship between the two nations. During his meeting with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at Malacañang Palace in Manila, both leaders underscored their commitment to deepening bilateral ties.
A significant outcome of this visit was the signing of eight pivotal agreements designed to enhance collaboration across various sectors. These agreements encompassed areas such as trade, agriculture, education, tourism, and digital transformation. Notably, the Agreement on the Elimination of Double Taxation aimed to reduce tax burdens for investors from both countries, thereby encouraging increased bilateral investments. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural and Agribusiness Cooperation was established, with Cambodia expressing readiness to support the Philippines’ food security through the supply of rice and other food products.
The leaders also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the Prevention of Looting and Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property, reflecting a shared commitment to preserving cultural heritage. Furthermore, both sides welcomed formal collaboration on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and government digital transformation, aiming to exchange expertise and training in these fields.
Prime Minister Hun Manet’s visit not only reinforced the longstanding friendship between Cambodia and the Philippines but also set the stage for future collaborations that promise to benefit both nations.
