Prime Minister Lawrence Wong launched the People’s Association (PA) Youth Charter on 1 March 2025, calling on young Singaporeans to take action in shaping the nation’s future. The initiative focuses on mental health, racial and religious harmony, and environmental sustainability.

Speaking at the launch event, PM Wong highlighted the importance of youth engagement in nation-building. He praised the enthusiasm and dedication of young Singaporeans, noting that the Charter was developed through extensive consultations, with over 127,000 inputs received—exceeding the original target of 100,000. The Charter captures the aspirations of young people and sets out 18 key commitments that reflect their values and vision for Singapore.

PM Wong shared the stories of young changemakers featured in the Charter, including Mohamed Juffrey and Gina Lee, who work to break the stigma around mental health, Deborah Seng, who promotes interfaith understanding through community initiatives, and Rachel Lee and Shi Xuan, who lead sustainability efforts. These individuals exemplify the proactive spirit of Singapore’s youth in driving meaningful change.

As part of the Charter’s launch, the People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM) pledged one million volunteer hours in 2025, encouraging young Singaporeans to take concrete action in their communities. PM Wong reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting youth-led initiatives through the SG60 PA Engagement Grant, which will help fund projects that strengthen community bonds and promote social good.

Reflecting on Singapore’s journey over the past 60 years, PM Wong acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in the resilience and dedication of young Singaporeans. He called on them to step forward, take ownership of their future, and contribute to building a better Singapore.
