The Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) invites visitors to explore Asian storytelling traditions through live performances, interactive sessions, and cultural experiences from 7–9 March
The Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) is set to host Crossing Cultures at ACM: Storytelling Through Time from 7 to 9 March, offering a captivating journey through the region’s diverse storytelling traditions. Visitors can experience a blend of ancient and modern expressions, from puppetry and Bharatanatyam to Xinyao and improvisational theatre, with performances by Sin Ee Lye Heng Puppet Troupe, LimTayPeng, Bhaskar’s Arts Academy, and The Improv Company.
For those eager to delve deeper into Singapore’s cultural heritage, author Eugene Tay will lead a heritage trail exploring the country’s animistic traditions, folklore, and age-old practices. Additionally, an experience inspired by a Human Library will feature personal stories and reflections from notable speakers, including interfaith facilitator and writer Mohamed Imran Mohamed Taib, The Necessary Stage founder Alvin Tan, and intercultural dialogue curator Jayasutha Samuthiran.
Families and young visitors can enjoy hands-on drop-in activities, such as typewriting their own stories and creating personalised bag charms. These interactive workshops provide a fun and creative way for participants to engage with storytelling traditions.
Most of the programmes are free, making this an excellent opportunity for visitors of all ages to immerse themselves in the rich and diverse world of Asian storytelling.
