New AI programs will enhance digital skills, upskill workers, and support businesses in adopting AI technologies.

The Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) has announced a series of new Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives during its Committee of Supply (COS) Debate 2025. These initiatives aim to improve the quality of life for Singaporeans, equip workers with AI skills, and support businesses in leveraging AI for productivity and growth. Aligned with National AI Strategy 2.0 and Smart Nation 2.0, the programs reinforce AI’s role in fostering innovation, inclusivity, and trust in a digital society.

AI is becoming an integral part of everyday life, from smart assistants that simplify daily tasks to AI-driven services that improve efficiency. To ensure all Singaporeans can use AI effectively and responsibly, the Government is expanding its Digital Skills for Life (DSL) framework. The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) will introduce new educational resources on Generative AI (GenAI), covering AI fundamentals, potential risks, and responsible usage. Additionally, the National Library Board (NLB) will set up experiential showcases in public libraries, allowing Singaporeans to experience firsthand how AI can enhance daily activities.

As AI reshapes industries, workforce readiness is critical. The Government is strengthening AI training through an updated Skills Framework for Infocomm Technology (ICT) in partnership with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). The SkillsFuture for Digital Workplace 2.0 (SFDW 2.0) program will now include AI and GenAI training, offering workers hands-on experience with AI tools to improve workplace productivity. These efforts will equip Singaporeans with the skills needed to thrive in an AI-driven economy.

For businesses, AI adoption is essential for competitiveness and growth. To help companies integrate AI effectively, IMDA is launching a GenAI Playbook for Enterprises, tailored to businesses at various stages of digital maturity. Additionally, the GenAI Navigator for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) will provide customized AI solution recommendations, with pre-approved options eligible for grant support. These tools, available through the CTO-as-a-Service platform, aim to simplify AI adoption and drive business efficiency.

Through these initiatives, the Government is preparing Singaporeans—individuals, workers, and businesses—to embrace AI with confidence. By enhancing digital literacy, upskilling the workforce, and supporting AI adoption across industries, Singapore continues its journey as a leader in AI-driven innovation and economic transformation.
