SINGAPORE – On Sunday, 11 May 2025, Siloso Beach, Sentosa, will come alive with the laughter and footsteps of preschoolers and their families participating in the inaugural Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) Walkathon. Organised by Preschool Market and supported by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), this family-centric event aims to foster community spirit while raising funds for the President’s Challenge.

The walkathon is part of the broader SSDB movement, initiated by ECDA in 2015 to encourage preschools to create platforms for children to give back to the community. This year’s theme, “Together for Tomorrow, Empowering Young Hearts,” aligns with Singapore’s SG60 celebrations, highlighting the collective effort to build a more inclusive and caring society.

Participants will embark on a scenic walk along Siloso Beach, with activities designed to inculcate values of kindness, compassion, and respect in young children. The event is open to all preschools, partners, beneficiaries, and the public, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and community engagement.

Funds raised during the walkathon will support the President’s Challenge, Singapore’s annual community outreach and fundraising campaign. By involving children in such initiatives, organisers hope to instil a lifelong commitment to social responsibility from an early age.

The SSDB Walkathon also serves as a platform for parents and educators to collaborate in nurturing the next generation. By participating alongside their children, adults model the importance of civic engagement and community service.

The event underscores the belief that no one is too young to make a difference. Through collective action, the SSDB Walkathon aims to inspire a culture of giving and empathy among Singapore’s youngest citizens.
