A significant milestone was achieved at the Odisha Investment Conclave held in January 2025, when United Petro Shipping Pte Ltd from Singapore and India’s Sadhav Shipping Limited formalised a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Odisha. The signing took place on 28th January 2025 and marked the beginning of a large-scale project aimed at advancing the maritime and renewable energy sectors in the region.

The agreement includes the construction of large vessels and repair facilities capable of servicing up to 25 ships per year. It also encompasses the development of offshore supply base infrastructure, including warehousing and material storage, which will support offshore operations such as the ownership and management of supply vessels.

Mr Sasetharan Devagaran, Director and Chief Operating Officer of United Petro Shipping Pte Ltd, confirmed that the Odisha government had granted full project approval. “This approval is a single-window clearance for all necessary permissions, permits, and land allocation as outlined in the signed MoU,” he stated.

The initiative highlights a strong emphasis on renewable energy, digitalisation, and sustainable fuel alternatives. By integrating these elements, the project seeks to position Odisha as a hub for environmentally friendly maritime operations, enhancing both companies’ appeal to eco-conscious stakeholders.

The Chairman of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI), Mr Neil Parekh, along with Internationalisation Subcommittee Chairman Mr Maneesh Tripathi, expressed their support for the collaboration. They congratulated United Petro and Sadhav Group on their achievement and anticipated a positive long-term impact stemming from the Conclave’s engagement.
