KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – The Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Kuala Lumpur (PTIC-KL) recently met with representatives of the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA) to explore new opportunities for cooperation in the semiconductor and electronics sectors.

The meeting was attended by Commercial Counsellor Norjamin Delos Reyes and Trade Assistant Cassandra Zaini Anwar from PTIC-KL, who engaged with MSIA Executive Director Andrew Chan Yik Hong and Manager Dayana Afiqah.

PTIC-KL highlighted the Philippines’ growing potential as a strategic destination for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, especially for companies seeking to diversify geographically across ASEAN. The delegation presented the country’s competitive advantages in high-value manufacturing and innovation, signalling its readiness to work alongside Malaysia to enhance regional supply chains.

MSIA, as a key driver of Malaysia’s semiconductor industry, plays a central role in shaping industry policy and fostering regional partnerships. The association has been active in discussions on strengthening ASEAN’s position in the global semiconductor value chain, particularly in light of shifting geopolitical trends and evolving technology demands.

Both sides expressed a shared commitment to building synergies between their respective semiconductor ecosystems. The meeting underlined the complementary nature of the two economies and their aligned vision of a more integrated and resilient ASEAN manufacturing base.

The Philippine Trade and Investment Center stated that this collaboration is not about competition but about harnessing each country’s strengths to promote long-term growth and stability in the region’s technology industries.

The engagement is expected to pave the way for further discussions, with the aim of forming joint strategies, promoting investment, and deepening bilateral cooperation in the sector.
