A cross-party Indian parliamentary delegation visited Singapore to discuss India’s counter-terrorism strategy and Operation Sindoor with Singaporean leaders, academics, and media.

Singapore, 27 May 2025 – An All-Party Parliamentary Delegation from India, led by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha, arrived in Singapore as part of a regional diplomatic outreach to convey India’s united resolve against terrorism. The visit follows similar engagements in Japan and South Korea and precedes meetings in Indonesia and Malaysia.

The delegation, comprising representatives from various Indian political parties, including Smt Aparajita Sarangi, Shri Abhishek Banerjee, Shri Brij Lal, Shri John Brittas, Shri Pradan Baruah, Dr Hemang Joshi, Shri Salman Khurshid, and former diplomat Amb. Mohan Kumar, engaged in high-level discussions with Singaporean ministers, parliamentarians, business leaders, academics, think tanks, media, and members of the Indian diaspora.

The Indian High Commissioner to Singapore provided a comprehensive briefing to the delegation to set the context for their engagements. During their interactions, delegation members outlined the key developments since the 22 April terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and the subsequent launch of Operation Sindoor—a targeted and proportionate response by India aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure.

Key meetings were held with Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs; Ms Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs; and Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Education, Sustainability and the Environment. The discussions centred around India’s evolving counter-terrorism doctrine, which underscores zero tolerance for terrorism, including nuclear blackmail, and a policy of not distinguishing between terrorists and their sponsors.

The delegation also engaged with Singaporean Members of Parliament including Mr Vikram Nair and Mr Saktiandi Supaat, and participated in a closed-door session organised by the Institute of South Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore. They addressed the broader context of cross-border terrorism and stressed the importance of sustained regional and international cooperation.

Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha emphasised India’s commitment to a firm and proportionate counter-terrorism stance and appealed for continued support from Singapore at multilateral platforms such as the United Nations and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

In response, Singaporean officials reaffirmed their nation’s strong condemnation of terrorism in all forms and reiterated their commitment to collaborate with India in regional and global efforts to counter terrorism.
